In the play, Antigone, written by Greek playwright Sophocles, one of the main characters, Teriresias makes a profound statement. Think all men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, and repairs the evil: the only crime is pride. Having not read, the reader may be able to identify the implications of the quote. Whether it be through common observation, politics, or personal life experiences, many readers can still identify or relate to this quotation.

As human beings, we all have a sense of pride, some more than others. There are many instances in our lives where we may feel we know best, and our minds become full of pride and move away from logical thinking. This sense of pride is seen a lot through politics. Many Americans have various opinions concerning the war in Iraq. Some may argue that our president has become overwhelmed with pride. The continuous surge of soldiers has continued to increase. Though, he may be wrong he continues to move forward with his agenda, even if spending billions of dollars on a war is not beneficial for everyday Americans. Many Americans may feel, that President George Bush is not a good man who yields but a bad man who course of wrong and amplifies evil. He is guilty of the crime of pride.

Even as everyday people, we may feel that we have learned the difference between right and wrong. Some may commit more mistakes than others, but we all seem to yield, turn back and correct our wrongdoing. As people we are entitled to make mistakes. However, we must not become blinded by pride and let it affect our judgment. For instance, a friend whom you have warned about their significant other continues to make the same mistake. Their friend was trying to be the good man who helps then yield. They are guilty of pride, al their good friend can do is let them be, for they have fallen victim.

Our logic maybe disturbed by our sense of pride. But we must all remember, that all men make mistakes, but a good man yields the only crime is pride. We can not be blinded by fallacy, we solely stay on the course of truth.
