A Passage to India

A Passage to India by E. M. Forster

A Passage to India follows Indian doctor Aziz, British teacher Fielding, elderly Mrs. Moore, and young Adela Quested as they attempt to befriend one another under the rule of the British Raj. Aziz and Fielding very much want to be friends, but after an incident in which Adela falsely accuses Aziz of assault, the community is torn apart by the seething racial undercurrents that affect everything in India. The novel explores the complexity of racial relations, as well as the insurmountable boundary between colonizer and colonized.
