Victory is a 1915 novel by Joseph Conrad telling the story of Axel Heyst, a European businessman who ends up in present-day Indonesia. With Mr. Schomberg, they visit a nearby island where Schomberg attempts to rape Lena, a member of a musical band. Heyst and Lena escape and become lovers and Schomberg, attempting revenge, sends three thugs to the island. In the ensuing fight, they thugs die along with Lena and later Heyst commits suicide.
