Night Study Guide

Night by Elie Wiesel

Night tells the story of Eliezer, a Jewish teenager who, along with his entire family, is taken to Auschwitz in 1944. While there, Eliezer and the other prisoners are treated as slaves, forced to work and given little food and no medical care. Their Nazi captors treat them with exceptional cruelty, killing children and others who are no longer of use to them. By the time the camp is liberated, Eliezer is the only surviving member of his family of six. Though fictional, Night reflects many aspects of author Elie Wiesel's life and experiences during WWII.
