What is guilt? Guilt is a cognitive or an emotional experience that occurs when a person realizes or believesaccurately or notthat he or she has violated a moral standard, and bears significant responsibility for that violation. Guilt played a major factor in the short stories What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver, Management of Grief by Bharati Mukherjee, and "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe . Each of these short stories displayed guilt in their on way. In what we talk about when we talk about love, Terri experiences the loss of her ex lover because she broke his heart and stop dating him throughout the story she displays the guilt of that decision. In the management of grief, Shaila Bhave experiences the loss of here family because of a tragic plane accident due to terrorists. Throughout the story, Mrs. Bhave helps other families of the victims cope, while dealing with hr own grief. Lover guilt is the worst type of guilt because it never really allows you to fully move on. In the short story What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, by Raymond Carver, Terri experiences lovers guilt when she breaks up with her lover Ed after he had beating her on several occasions and threaten to kill her when she left him he killed himself. Terri really didnt show guilt because of all the bad things Ed had done to her but he loved me (carver 219). This quote shows that Terri was starting to feel sorry for herself for breaking up with her lover Ed because she knew he loved her just had a different way of showing it. Terri found a new boyfriend now and she still talks about Ed this shows she still feel guilty for his death.

All guilt cause some type of regret but when your family involved it makes it even harder. In the short story Management of Grief by Bharati Mukherjee. The mother has to live with not going with her family on a trip which ended with her family died in a tragically plane crash. As she tries to deal with the guilt of not going o cause her to express herself in different ways for instance when she said, you know what I want to do?
