While reading Demian I felt that Hesse was a stirring writer, I also felt that he has a bit of dangerousness when it comes to writing novels and he is also a bit edgy. This has made his novel even more intriguing to read, this book continues to keep you interested and wanting to read more about Sinclair and his situations. Sinclair is a very unusual character I thought which made me want to continue reading to find out how he would handle his altercations.

Hesse made this novel very intense and powerful, he placed Sinclair in a variety of different situations that were very heart retching. For example when Sinclaire was walking in the park and he saw a beautiful girl with a boyish face he became infatuated with her even though they never officially met. He even gave her his own name Beatrice. To him she held a very special place in his heart; she made him feel alive again. This to me was very incredible that one person could have made such an impact on another person without even truly speaking to them or meeting them. He didnt even know what she was truly like, he had no idea if she was a wonderful person or even if she was a terrible person, how can one person be so infatuated with someone they barely knew?

In my opinion I felt that Hesse added something into this novel that was out of the ordinary, because you dont often hear that a person has changed or feels differently about the world and life after seeing someone, and not even officially meeting them. This was something that was breath taking and fairy tale like, which made me open my eyes to see things in a different light. Maybe this does happen in actuality maybe people do see someone that just transforms their life and their being without even coming into contact or formally meeting them. Sinclairs life was then changed after seeing Beatrice she made him feel as though he was whole again, that there was hope at the end of the tunnel for him.
