Romeo and Juliet

For this essay, I will discuss contrasts between the book and the movie. I will discuss plot changes to the movie that differ from the book. I hope you will find my essay interesting.

First I will talk about the differences between the book and the movie. If you were to read this book you will only be able to visualize it and not actually see what is going on. But since we saw the movie we can understand the book better because of the pictures. One example of this is when reading Tybalts part you dont know what kind of expression to give but in the movie you can feel and see his anger.

Secondly, there have been some changes to the plot to be, movie capable. This is one of the easier comparisons because you can see what has been added or removed to the movie compared to the book. An example of this is in the book Romeo says about 50 words to Juliet and then kisses her before she is called away by the nurse. While in the movie Juliet is called away before Romeo even talks to her.

Lastly, I will explain some differences between the characters relationships. This has to do with the visual parts of the film, but there has been several script modifications. An example is the apparent attraction between Tybalt and Lady Capulet. In the book there is no mention of a relationship between the two. But in the movie they passionately kiss. Also when Tybalt is killed by Romeo, Lady Capulet says she loves Tybalt.

My preference over the two is the movie because it is a hard book to follow without being able to see exactly what is happening. The old English makes it very hard to understand without seeing the characters and there reactions. Also the movie shows the scenes in a more dramatic way where that is harder to show in the book.

In conclusion, you can see all the hard work Shakespeare put into the book. No one knows what the original version of Romeo and Juliet was like and no one will ever know what it was like. All that is for certain, is that no one can ever recreate what Shakespeare has done in this extraordinary screenplay.
