How does fate affect all of us? Fate has been predestined for everybody and nobody can avoid it. Fate sometimes shows its signs of taking on affect on people. In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. The two main characters Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet have been taken by the effect of fate. They are two teenagers who fall in love at first sight but without knowing fate has already begun. Fate works in mysteries ways but always works in the end of what was predestined. Fate shows signs that Romeo and Juliets love will end in their demise.

Fate shows warnings to both Romeo and Juliet; it shows them that they are going to make a mistake. Romeo experiences a warning sign from fate in Act 1, Scene 4, when Romeo is still lovesick over Rosaline, and is about to crash the Capulet party. He is with Mercutio and Benovolio; they both tell him he needs to get over Rosaline. Romeo had a bad feeling about going to this party. He states I fear, too early; for my mind misgives some consequence, yet hanging in the stars. (Shakespeare 1.4, 116-117) Romeo feels that if he goes to this party some consequence will come and change his life forever. Thanks to Mercutio and Benvolio, who both ignore this warning from the stars and continues to go to the party. To only fall in love with Juliet. This warning from the stars of fate happens to Juliet. In Act 3, Scene 5, Juliet does not want Romeo to leave Verona to go to Mantua after Romeo was banished by killing Tybalt. When Romeo was rushed to leave, Juliet was looking down the rope ladder that Romeo was looking down she saw something weird. She stated O God, I have an ill-diving sow! Me think I see the, now thou art below, as one dead in the bottom of a tomb. Either my eyesight Rails, or thou lookst pale. (Shakespeare 3.5, 55-58). Juliet looks down to see that Romeo looks like he is going to die. She also fears that she will never see Romeo again. This is a warning sign from fate to show that Juliet wont see Romeo ever again. Even though both Romeo and Juliet receive warning signs from fate they both ignore the warning signs.

Fate uses Tybalts death to separate and begin the demise of Romeo and Juliet. Tybalts death ruins Romeos love in Act 3, Scene 1 when Romeo just married to Juliet. Romeo was in a good mood and Tybalt came and challenged Romeo to a duel to the death. Romeo did not want to fight Tybalt because Tybalt was his knew cousin by law. Mercutio was also there wondering why Romeo would not fight Tybalt. So Mercutio challenged Tybalt and ended up dying. Romeo was so furious that he challenged Tybalt and killed him. Realizing his mistake he states O, I am fortunes fool (Shakespeare 3.1, 145). Romeo fleas the scene to later find out he is banished from Verona. Tybalts death causes Romeo to have to separate from Juliet and to never see each other alive again. Tybalts death also ruins Juliets love for Romeo. In Act 3, Scene 5, Juliet has just spent the night with Romeo and he just left. Capulet tells Juliet she will marry Paris. Juliet goes against marrying Paris but Capulet gets furious and states Thursday, is near; Ill you to my friend; an you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in, the streets, for, by my soul, Ill hes acknowledge thee, nor what is mine shall never do thee good. Trust tot. Bethink you. Ill not be forsworn (Shakespear 3.5, 218-229). Capulet is telling Juliet she has to marry Paris or she will be thrown in the streets. Tybalts death causes Juliet to marry someone she doesnt love and be over more causes Juliet and Romeos love to be more separated.

Fate uses the consequences of Tybalts death to never let Romeo and Juliet see each other again and end in their own demise. Fate uses the consequences of Tybalts death by ruining Friar Laurences Plan to help Juliet. Friar Laurence thinks of this play when Juliet is forced to marry Paris, Juliet says if the Friar Laurence does not help he she will kill herself. Friar Laurence suggests this plan to avoid Juliet killing herself. Juliet goes along with the plan, so Friar Laurence sends a letter to Romeo. In Act 5, Scene 2, Friar Laurence gives the note to Friar John and asks if he went to Mantua to give the note to Romeo. Friar John tells Friar Laurence that he did not leave Verona last night. Friar Laurence is so shocked that he states unhappy Fortune! By my brotherhood, the letter was not nice, but full of charge, of dear import, and the neglecting it may do much danger. Friar John, go hence, get me an iron crow and bring it straight unto my cell (Shakespeare 5.2, 18-23). Fate ruins Friar Laurence plan to reunite Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence tries to fix the plan but fate comes in to making the plan completely failure and end in Romeo and Juliets death. Fate makes it that Balthazar to reach Romeo first with the false news. So Romeo buys the poison to die next to Juliet. Romeo drinks the poison and dies. Juliet wakes up to find Romeo dead, she states whats here? A cup, closed in my true loves hand? Poison I see hath been his timeless end. O churl! Drunk all and left no friendly drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips. Happy some poison yet doth hang on them to make me die with a restorative. Thy lips are warm! Yea noise. Then Ill be brief. O happy dagger! This is thy sleath; there rust, and let me lie (Shakespeare 5.3, 173-183). Juliet kills herself. Fate never allowed Romeo and Juliet to truly be together.

With their destiny already in the hands of fate, Fate shows signs of Romeo and Juliets demise. Even though they were both warned about their love, they ignored those warnings. They continued to follow their love even though fate had set their destiny. Both Romeo and tried to go against fate but fate won in at the end, with both of their demises. Everyone has a destiny and nobody can avoid what has already been planned for you.
