Young and Immature love

In the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet claim they are in love,6 so they get married. After knowing each other for one night Romeo asks Juliet to marry him which is a hasty decision seeing that he does not even know her that well and basing everything off of what Juliet looks like. After getting married Romeo is banned from the city and hears that Juliet is dead, 6 so he kills himself. Can anyone really love someone enough that after five days of knowing them and getting married the person would kill themselves just to be with the other person? This proves that all of these decisions were made without thinking.

True love cannot just be only based on physical attraction there is more to love than just the way a person looks. Romeo and Juliets love is more based on physical attraction. Romeo went from being madly in love with Rosaline to seeing Juliet and falling in love with her. Friar Laurence even asks Romeo if he is in love with Rosaline Romeo says Rosaline [] I have forgot that name, 6 and that names woe,11 Romeo went from saying he was in love with her to seeing Juliet and not even caring about Rosaline (2.3.48-49). After Romeo says this Friar Laurence says young mens love then lies not truly in their hearts, 6 but in their eyes, 11 many people think that Romeo and Juliet only love each other how they look and think they are making decisions very quickly (2.3.73-74). Romeo and Juliet do not think about any of their decisions, the same as teenagers do now. Teenagers do not think about how their decisions will affect the rest of their life. Many of them just make decisions based on how they feel at that moment and not how it will turn out later.

Romeo and Juliet meet at a party, 6 and then that night Romeo went back to Juliets house and says to her I want the lovers faithful vow for mine, 11 and after he says that they arrange to have someone come talk to him (2.2.138-139). Juliet is being more mature and says too like the lighting, which doth cease to be, 11 meaning are you going to love me one second like lightning and as quick as lightning disappears not love me anymore (2.2.130) Juliet also tells Romeo that she will have someone come and talk to him tomorrow and if he still loves her than she will arrange to be wed to him. Also after Romeo and Juliet are married and Romeo is banished from the town, Juliet has to find a way out of her marriage to Pairs, so she fakes her death. Juliet has Friar Laurence send a letter to Romeo telling him what is going on. But as soon as Romeo hears that Juliet is dead he rushes to go see her, when he could have waited a little longer and collected his thoughts and by that time the letter would have arrived and he would not have killed himself. Also Romeo makes a quick decision once he sees Juliet lying there dead to kill himself because he wants to be with her. Romeo did not take any time to think his decisions through so he kills himself without realizing that Juliet is waking up and when he sees that she is still alive it is too late. Juliet does the same thing once she sees that Romeo has killed himself she also made the quick decision to end her life just to be with her husband she has only known for a couple of days. Many people believe that there love is only based on physical attraction some believe otherwise.

Although many people believe that Romeo and Juliet were too young and immature to actually be in love, some people believe that they truly were in love. Some people think that it was love at first sight and that Juliet took the time to think about her decision to marry Romeo. They also think that Romeo would not have killed himself over Juliets death unless they were in love, while others believe he did not think about his actions before he did them. Also during this time period girls were married at very young ages and Juliet was at that age where she should be married and having kids. But just because that is the age people are supposed to get married does not mean that those kids were mature enough to be married. Juliet was more mature when Romeo told her he loved he she asked if it was just a spur of the moment thing or if he really meant it, she told him that she would send a person to see if he still feels the same way about her the next day. This proves that only Juliet is more mature than Romeo but she still makes immature decisions and does not think about what they could do for the rest her life she just wants to think about what is going on now.

Romeo and Juliet are both too immature to be getting married. They are also too young, they are just kids and kids do not also think before they act. Friar Laurence says that Romeo only loves with his eyes and not his heart, he falls in love with how they people look and not how they people are. At that young of an age most guys follow what their eyes see and not how their heart really feels about a person and only loving how someone looks is not real love. Juliet cares more about it and knows that Romeo is rushing into things, 6 but she still only gives him one day to think things over and then they get married. Physical attraction is not enough to keep to people together, they also need to really love each other and love everything about thing and not just how they look.
