Some people change overtime and some does not! Nick Carraway the main character of the book The Great Gatsby is a dynamic character. He had changed a lot by the end of the story. Firstly, Nick came to east to earn success and become wealthy, but ended up wanting to go back to the Midwest. Secondly, in the beginning following his fathers advice Nick didnt judge anyone but at the end he made judgments on people. Thirdly his likes became dislikes.

Nick came to east to earn success and become wealthy, but ended up wanting to go back. Nick thought life style in the east would be different and approving, which would give him chances to earn some wealth. The Middle West now seemed like the ragged edge of the universe- so I decided to go east and learn the bond business.(Pg-3) When he got to know the east side closely, Nick just wanted to run away. Most of the people he met in New York were cheats, ignorant, and would show off their money, just like Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, and Jordan. Nick matures after seeing the fast life of New York and understands he would not be able to fit in. After Gatsbys death the East was haunted for me like that, distorted beyond my eyes power of correction. So when the blue smoke of brittle leaves was in the air and the wind blew the wet laundry stiff on the line I decided to come back home. (Pg- 176)

Next, in the beginning following his fathers advice, Whenever you feel like criticizing any one, he told me, just remember that all the people in this world havent had advantages that youve had, (Pg- 1) Nick stopped judging people, however, at the end he started making judgments again. Tom and Daisy the two people that stood very low in his eyes now. Daisy is Nicks cousin a young lady who ditched Gatsby and married Tom, just because Gatsby was poor. When Gatsby came into Daisys life again she pretended to like him but at the end once again the result was fleeing away without saying anything. But she and Tom had gone away early this afternoon and taken baggage with them. (Pg-164) Daisy and Tom left the day of Gatsbys funeral, its very obvious that they knew Gatsby was dead because he was so famous and this news was in newspapers as well, but they still didnt ever bother to come see him. Hence they were cruel and selfish thats why Nick refused to shake hands with Tom when they met again. Whats the matter Nick? Do you object to shaking hands with me? (Pg- 178) This was when Nick found out that Tom was the reason of Gatsbys death.

Lastly, Nicks likes became dislikes. Nick didnt like east egg before but then startled liking it. In addition the girl Nick adored, Jordan Baker also got crossed out. I dont know which of us hung up with a sharp click, but I know I dont care, (Pg-155) thought Nick after talking to Jordan on the phone. Nick starts to grow his doubt toward Jordan when he found out that she cheated on the golf tournament. Jordan makes herself a dishonest person who lies to get what ever she wants. Nick becomes disgusted by her after knowing she is dating another man because Nick didnt see her for a little while. For just a minute I wondered if I wasnt making a mistake, then I thought it all over again quickly and got up to say good-bye, (Pg- 177) Nick decided to finished everything up with Jordan. Consequently, they end their ties and Nick finally got rid of her.

In conclusion, Nick Carraway the main character of the book The Great Gatsby is a dynamic character. His decision about living in East changed to going back to Midwest. Another reason is Nick followed his fathers advice and stopped judging people, but later in the book he judged Tom and Daisy. In addition Nicks likes became dislikes, and the perfect example is Jordan Baker. Therefore these are the reasons why Nick Carraway is a dynamic character.
