Life is Beautiful

How wonderful and amazing would be the mind of a child, who in his innocent, Joshua belief in the game that his father, Guido, created to kept away from the cruel reality. Joshua, a child who born during the Second World War and he and his father were captured by the Nazis guards and they were taken to the concentration camp because his father was Jew. Guido, worried about his son and his wife, he feed the mind of his child, telling him that the camp is just a game and the people who were there they were also a players.

The one who has the fewest points will have to wear a sign that says Jackass on his back. According to Guido, to win the game, the person has to score one thousand points and that person will take home a real tank, but there are some ways to lose points. One, if any person cries. Two, if someone ask to see for his/her mom. And three, if someone asked for food. At the beginning, Joshua was very excited and he followed the rules, trying to score all the points that he can, but after a while, he wanted to see his mom, but his father tracked and pushed him until the end, convincing him that they were winning because of the points. Guido kept himself alive to take care of his child, using all his imagination and friendship that he formed with guys in the concentration camp.

In those years, the concentration camps were used to keep all the Jews and any other person who will not be German away from the superior race, which in that case were the Germans. Guido told his little son to keep him away from the Nazis officers and stay with all the children, but when the officers took the kids to take a shower, Joshua escaped and his father was hidden him on the room where he and other bunch of guys were sleeping. Guido said to his son, until he stay hide on the room without complains, they will accumulate more points and they will win the tank and the chance to find his mother.

After many events happened in the concentration camp but before the U.S. soldier arrived to the camp, Guido said to his son to stay inside of a chest until everybody was gone. After a while, Joshua gets off of his place and an U.S. tank appear in front of him and rescued him; he found his mother and he began to scream Mom, we won, we won!

Its incredible to see how Guido used his fertile imagination to kept the mind of his child away of the death, creating a game which it safe his sons life. Its also unbelievable to see how Dora, wife of Guido, sacrificed herself to stay close to her family and luckily at the same time because at the end, she found his child but her husband was killed.
