"I'd never given much thought to how I would die- though I'd had reason enough in the last few months- but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this." Twilight is a vampire romance novel written by Stephanie Meyer. It was published in 2005. Twilight is the story of a seventeen year old girl named Bella Swan. Bella moves from warm, sunny Arizona to a small, rainy Washington town named Forks. The main characters in this book are Isabella "Bella" Swan, Edward Cullen, Charlie, Rene, Jacob Black and James.

Bella moved away from Phoenix where she lived with her mother Rene and step dad Phil. Phil enrolled in a minor league baseball camp and Rene wants to go with Phil but Bella didn't want to. So instead she moved in with her father Charlie in Forks, Washington. When Bella moved to Washington, she feels very out of her element. She has changed schools, houses, parents and even the natural environment is very different. At first she was depressed by the always rainy weather and dreading her first day at her new high school.

But things change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unusual romance unusual because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands. Oh, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he's immortal. That's right - vampire. But he doesn't have fangs - that's just in the movies. And he doesn't drink human blood, though Edward and his family are unique among vampires in that lifestyle choice.

Their relationship is disturbed when another vampire coven arrives in Forks. James, a tracker vampire who is intrigued by the Cullens' relationship with a human, wants to hunt Bella for fun. The Cullens attempt to distract the tracker by splitting up Bella and Edward, and Bella is sent to hide in a hotel in Phoenix. There, Bella receives a phone call from James, who claims to be holding her mother captive. When Bella surrenders herself, James attacks her. Before she is killed, Edward, along with the other Cullens, rescues her and kills James. Once they realize that James has bitten Bella's hand, Edward successfully sucks the poison from her bloodstream and prevents her from becoming a vampire, after which she is brought to a hospital. Upon returning to Forks, Bella and Edward attend their school prom and Bella expresses her desire to become a vampire, but Edward refuses.

Twilight is one of the most moving books I have read in a long time. It kept me thinking about it long after I read the last page. Its heartbreaking romance and suspenseful twists made it hard for me to put the book down. Twilight allows the reader to experience a whole new outlook on vampires and how they interact around humans. After reading this book I recommend it to anyone who would enjoy reading about an incredibly suspenseful romance.

There was only one thing that I didnt like about Twilight. Bellas her whole life revolves around Edward. Her hobbies, interests, everything all equal one thing - Edward. Bella is way to dependant on people. She doesn't talk to her friends when she starts dating Edward, only the Cullens. But then when they break up, she expects them to be there for her? I wouldn't be.

The Twilight novel was the first of the four-book saga, which has sold over 40 million copies worldwide. The popularity of the author Stephanie Meyer is comparable to that of the author of the Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling.

Although Twilight has its problems, I find the plot captivating, full of suspense, mystery, romance, adventure, and comedy. Stephanie Meyers well-rounded characters make the plot believable. The Twilight saga is a fun read and a wonderful and unique story. The novel has appeal to fantasy and romance fans and is sure to keep you reading into the vampire hours of the night.
