Dicey from Dicey song

When Maybeth said were sorry, Gram, and when Gram replied I know you are and I know you wont do it again I felt relieved that Gram wasnt angry anymore. But when I realized that I had a holiday from work tomorrow and I had to go shopping I felt really awkward shopping with Gram. But soon I realized it was for the winter and the cold is coming. Then I realized that we were going to talk about the conference then didnt know what to expect. Gram asked if it was alright with you Dicey? I didnt know what to say, expect anything could happen. So I said sure if you want to. I thought what would happen all night. Until the day came the next morning. We waited at bus stop it was cold and windy. I started thinking about the bus, and how it looked like fall. I realized that I had goose bumps on my legs. Then Mr. Lingerle pulled up and asked if we wanted to a ride to town. Gram was a very independent person she didnt like to be helped but she gave in. Mr. Lingerle was a very helpful person; he even asked when he should pick us up. Gram said you dont have to worry about that.

I planned to enjoy myself when we arrived at the mall. I saw that lots of people come to the mall on Saturday. We had to get going .We went to a shop with wool on a table in front of us then Gram picked some balls of wool and asked me, I thought they were quite ugly so I said no. We went into another shop with its window crammed with pillows. Gram went straight to the wool section in the shop and started to pull colors that suited us when we wear them. I didnt know why Gram was getting wool. I started looking at the saleslady. Then I asked Gram why she was getting wool. She told me that she could knit I was surprised. So I asked doesnt that take a lot of time Gram chose greeny-bluey skein flecked with white and I asked if liked it. I liked the more I looked at it. I felt the wool when gram said feel it, it was soft and thick. Gram paid for the wool and I held the bag of wool. Gram asked me if my mother taught me how to knit, I replied no.

We walked to the other end of the mall into a shop and Gram pulled out 8 pairs of jeans, then she paid for them. I thanked Gram because she was using the welfare money to buy clothes for us; it was very kind of her. Gram said children cant wear shorts all year round then I knew she was referring to me. I changed the subject and started to talk about Maybeth that she wasnt progressing in school. I was really concerned for Maybeth, Mrs. Jackson said that there were home tutors I wanted to get one for Maybeth but if we could only afford one. I didnt want Maybeth to turn out like Millie. But then Gram assured me that she wont turn out like Millie. We had to go into another department store for long sleeved shirts, for Sammy and Maybeth. Gram chose the shirts quickly and stepped in line. Gram started to talk about Sammy and how he was working alright and how quiet and silent he is when little boy can be hellions. I was surprised to hear those words coming from Gram about Sammy. I knew he wasnt being himself. My shoulder sagged because the bags I was carrying were getting big not very heavy.

I started to talk with Gram about James and I asked how he was doing if he was doing and if the teacher was pleased with him. I knew the comments would be good because they were talking about James the smartest of all the kids in the family. But I was surprised to hear that that he worked better in the start of the year and he letting the other kids catch up to him. Also that he showed me a different report. Then Gram and I went to centre and Gram said lunch I was relieved to hear that word at the time. But then when I realized that Gram was taking me to a restaurant in the two-storey building. I protested because I saw a couple of hamburger stalls. When I realized that she was taking no notice of me. Gram and I sat down at the table that the waitress had given us. This is my treat, for me Gram opened her menu, and so did. I looked for the three cheapest things and when she asked what I liked I said spaghetti Then Gram told me her rule and asked me to chose the club sandwich. The club sandwich was quite nice. Then Gram and I talked about my brothers and sisters. And she told me not to let go.
