Little Dorrit Study Guide

Little Dorrit

Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens

Little Dorrit is the story of a number of characters stratified through the social classes of London in the 1600s. The eponymous heroine, Amy Dorrit, is the child of a debtor who has spent his children's lives in prison. She supports her father with her meager earnings as a seamstress. The novel is a satirical look at the trap faced by the working poor and at the monstrous injustices perpetrated by the English economy.
