The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test

The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe

The Electric Kool-Aid Test is a book by Tom Wolfe chronicling the travels of Ken Kesey and his "Merry Pranksters" during the 1960s. The book describes Kesey as a prophetic figure, who amassed an LSD-fueled movement bringing together the Pranksters, the Hell's Angels, Beatniks and the Grateful Dead. Eventually Kesey was arrested for marijuana possession and, after fleeing to Mexico with some Pranksters, returned to the US as a celebrity, attempting to reach "inter-subjectivity" without psychedelic drugs and finally serving a criminal sentence at a work camp in California.
