Into Thin Air

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer

Into Thin Air is a memoir in which Jon Krakauer tells the story of an ill-fated attempt to climb Mt. Everest in 1996. Krakauer, a journalist, was climbing with Adventure Consultants, one of multiple groups scaling the mountain in the Spring of that year. Bad weather, neglect, and poor decision making led to the deaths of eight people in what has come to be know as the Mt. Everest Disaster. The book is a chronicle of tragedy, human endurance, and journalistic integrity.
