The Mill on the Floss Study Guide

The Mill on the Floss

The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot

The Mill on the Floss is the story of the Tulliver siblings, Tom and Maggie, during their lives at Dorlcote Mill on the eponymous river. The two struggle to be close with one another, with the narrative shown from Maggie's point of view. Maggie, open and loving, does not receive the affection she desires from practical and reserved Tom. In their young adulthood they are reunited by a flood during the progress of which they are both drowned.
