Underworld by Don DeLillo

Underworld is a 1997 novel by Don DiLillo comprised of several intertwining non-linear narratives with existential themes of nuclear proliferation and loss. Much of the book focuses on Nick Shay, a waste management worker who is searching for his missing father and has a troubled relationship with his wife. Other plot-lines include the story of Cotter Martin, a boy who catches a famous home run baseball that his father steals and sells.
