Gilgamesh search for a way to live forever, but ended up losing the closest thing to a brother he had ever had. He so found way for Enkidu to come back to him. Gilgamesh complains to Enkidu that various objects he possessed had fallen into the underworld. Enkidu offers to bring them back. Delighted, Gilgamesh tells Enkidu what he must and must not do in the underworld in order to come back. Enkidu does everything he was told not to do. The underworld keeps him. Gilgamesh prays to the gods to give him his friend back. Enlil and Suen dont bother to reply but Ea and Shamash decide to help. Shamash cracks a hole in the earth and Enkidu's ghost jumps out of it. The tablet ends with Gilgamesh questioning Enkidu about what he has seen in the underworld.

Another significant theme, in the case of the gods; they disguise themselves so that they can interact with mortals. Athena in particular assumes many disguises including a shepherd, a girl, Telemachus, and Mentor. Odysseus is also able to disguise his identity, though not physically; by telling Polyphemus his name is Nobody so that he will not be identified as the one who blinded the Cyclops. He also disguises himself as a beggar when he returns to Ithaca to protect himself from being killed by the Suitors. All so he could be with his wife that waited so long for her husband to come home. Odysseus and is son whom is now 20 years old will help fight to bring back his once beautiful city. This brings Odysseus closer to the gods, by believing in Athena and following her command she ended the fighting and shielded them from the storm.

By trusting in this faith of the gods Odysseus got what he wanted, being with his family in the city that he had loved so much. Gilgamesh just wants to become god like having only faith in himself. Which is why I think every time he got close to finding what he need to stay forever young something would take it from him. To me, is his blind faith kept him from his ultimate goal.
