You can have a good life even though others may not see it. In the book Enders game by Orson Scott Card Ender lives a good life even though it may not be apparent at first. Ender is the third child in his family which is forbidden and frowned upon and the government monitored his every move to see if he was fit for the army, until one day they stopped monitoring him. Soon after he was recruited to the Battle School where he quickly made enemies. He used his intelligence to quickly master what they called the game. He was promoted to different armies then eventually was put in charge of his own and they never lost a battle soon after that he was graduated from the school 6 years early to advance to commander school. Even through all of this he was hopeful and got a lot of compassion from his friends and family but most of all he was stimulated mentally in various situations. Nobody but themselves can see the good life that lies under the scared surface.
Ender appears to be a broken soul, but he still has hope for a good life. Ender has his monitor removed shedding a beam of hope on his otherwise remedial life. Ender only wants to be a normal kid and now that his monitors gone Peter [wont] hate him anymore.(2)Ender has just had his monitor removed and he wont be as abnormal anymore. He hopes to be like all the other normal kids and play and have fun. He also hopes that peter wont hate him anymore. It is this hope that is bringing closer to his good life. Ender has made his first friend, a boy named Alai. Ender and Alai where [already] whooping and laughing as they froze everybody in the room giving way for ender to hope.(60) Now that Ender was no longer all alone at this school he could hope that he would
be happy with his new friend Alai. With this hope his good life is inching ever closer. Ender is no longer just the pip squeak at the battle school which can make him hope that hell be somebody there. Ender started holding practise sessions to teach his friends some people hated it but some commanders thought it was a good idea for him to help like that.(118) With the commanders admiring enders work he now had respect at the school and wasnt just a nobody now. Now he had hope that with time everyone would grow to respect him which would give him a good life. Enders hopefulness helps to heal his broken soul as he continuous to strive for his good life.
With all of the friendship and compassion Ender receives its hard not to have a good life. Enders parents should resent him but only do a little but actually still love him. Enders parents do love him even though hes a third or unwanted child. (22) With parents like Enders its hard to know if he is hated or loved at but hes reassured by Graff. Even though hes a third they still have compassion towards him letting him feel as though he has a good life. Petra befriends young Ender when he joins salamander army. Ender really knew they [were] friends now when Petra started giving him extra help. (79) Enders now friends with a girl in his new army but she wanted to be friends with him first showing she has some level of compassion towards him. With that act of compassion ender couldve actually had a good life in that army. Enders focus for finishing battle school is so that he can protect his sister Valentine from the buggers. Enders going to make sure the buggers dont shootout Valentines eyes so hes going to not forget her and hes also going to finish battle school. Enders drive is at this point is that lat part about him that cares about
anyone, Valentine. He wants to protect her because he loves her which reassures imp sometimes so that he wont forget that someone out there still loves him whatll let him live his good life. Ender is having a good life thanks to all the compassion from the people around him.
Ender is always innovating and thinking which will lead him to his good life. Ender thinks hard about the teachers pitting students against one another. Ender believes that theyre the enemy after meeting Dink but before he never realized this though. (108) Ender hasnt noticed that the teachers were their real enemy until Dink opened his mind to the idea. With an open mind about the enemys in his life Ender can reassess his thinking and live a better life. The odds are stacked against Ender but he can surely think himself out of any situation. Ender had been informed that he had a battle in literally no time and that the enemy had a head start. So he thought up the shield pairs of boys like how tom was a shield [,] and Bean had been inside of him. (193) Ender is given virtually no notice to his next battle against bonzo and he arrives as bonzo is already in there. Ender thinks up his next battle against bonzo and he arrives as bonzo is already in there. Ender thinks up his new tactics lightning fast which ends up giving him a victory. So with his mental stimulation Ender solves yet another situation making his life much better. Bean is a lot like ender in how hes a thinker. Ender has assigned Bean to think up inventive ideas. That very night he thought of a half dozen ideas before he went to sleep. (199) Bean is now assigned to think up some new ideas. Hes creative which makes his life good and his ideas will relate back and make Enders life better. Enders good life is made possible by him thinking his way out of problems letting him win and get things done.
People should judge whether they have a good life or not for themselves. Ender has many friends who are compassionate and also some family hes also hopeful but most of all hes mentally stimulated making his life better.The world is round and the place that may seem like the end may only be the beginning.(Ivy Baker)
