Have you ever tried to show leadership by doing the wrong/ right thing? The Crucible By Arthur Miller is about a little town called Salem in Massachusetts .In the town of Salem there were young girls who lied to the whole town that they seen witches and the Devil . These girls showed this emotion for being bored and being threatened by Abigail the niece of Parris..Proctor and Abigail wanted to show leadership because each one wanted a specific gain from the town of Salem .

Abigail only really wanted John Proctor because she wanted to see Elizabeth to suffer . When Abigail was in court she told Mary Warren to stick a needle in a poppet and give it to Elizabeth so they can obtain her. Mary Warren says Let you ask Susanna Walcott - she saw me sewin it in court. Or better still: Ask Abby, Abby sat beside me when i made it(Miller, 76). Abby wanted to set up Elizabeth to have her obtained. When John Proctor had a affair with Abigail and Abigail thought it was more then that. Abigail says to Proctor And now you bid me tear the light out of my eyes? I will not, I cannot! You loved me , John Proctor , and whatever sin it is, you love me yet ( Miller, 24). Shes telling him so that John Proctor can go back to her and there affairs. Abigail is disccusing with John Proctor that she want stop loving him no matter what he says. What Abigail did was selfish and didnt think about the consequences to the people .

Proctor hated Abigail for letting him self get to by Abigail and letting her get inoccent people killed. When Abigail was in court and her and her friends kept bursting random names and saying she seen them with the devil. Abigails friends start bursting names Betty: I saw Martha Bellows with the devil! Abigail: I saw goody Proctor sibber with the devil . (Miller, 45) Abigail started shouting names so the judge can take her side and arrest those people. The lie Abigail did was so they could take those people and arrest them so she could have John Proctor for her. Proctor was speaking to Abigail that she needs to tell the courts she is lying about everything and she doesnt want to until there all gone. proctor says Abby--- you mean to cry out still others? and Abigail says If I live, if I am not murdered, I surely will, until the last hypocrite is dead. ( Miller, 150) The reason Abigail did not want to tell the truth was because all people in the town of Salem that treated her wrong needed to pay. Proctor thought Abigail was just crazy and never wanted to anything to do with her again.

Abigail and Proctor wanted specific things from the town of Salem Abby wanted John Proctor and wanted revenge on the town of Salem for treating her wrong and Proctor just wanted to show to show that people were innocent and had no right to hang them without real proof. People sometimes don't see when to stop lying and keep going with there false statements which lead to bigger problems.
