Dune

Dune is a science-fiction novel set more than 20,000 years in the future. Humans have settled on many other planets and each planet is united under an empire. The family of Paul Atreides is given control of Arrakis, a planet known for melange, an incredibly valuable substance needed for space travel. Paul eventually joins a group of Fremen and begins a war to bring down the empire, even though he knows that the war will eventually spread and destroy the entire universe.
