Utopia

Utopia by Thomas More

Utopia is a 1516 fictional work of political philosophy by Thomas More. The book is presented in two parts as a correspondence and account of Raphael Hythloday's travels to Utopia, a far-off land that, unlike Europe, seems to be free of social ills. Utopia is an egalitarian communistic society with free education, medical care and (for the time) liberal social policies. The country has almost no crime, is tolerant of multiple religions and is effectively governed by an educated benevolent monarch, kept in check by democratically-elected officials.
