Swann's Way

Swann's Way by Marcel Proust

Swann's Way is the first of seven volumes in Marcel Proust's novel In Serach of Lost Time. The novel begins by describing the indifference that habit causes and describes being suddenly reminded of an experience from childhood, which he previously did not remember well. He recounts the people and places of his childhood, the neighborhood with two walking paths: Swann's way and Guermantes way, after the neighbors he passed. The narrator then tells of Gilberte's failed love for a woman named Odette.
