Running Out of Time is a young adult novel that tells the story of Jessie, a teenage girl living in the small village of Clifton in the 1840s. When the village is hit with an outbreak of diphtheria, her mother reveals that Clifton is a historical tourist attraction, and that it is really 1996 in the outside world. Jessie must leave the familiarity of the 19th century to obtain a cure and attempt to save her family. This novel explores themes of manipulation, medical ethics, and culture shock.
