Rights of Man

Rights of Man by Thomas Paine

Rights of Man is a book published in 1791, comprised of essays and articles defending the French Revolution (for example, from attacks like those of Edmund Burke). Basing his beliefs in the notion of a social contract (that individuals must consent to join a social bond of norms and laws) and natural unalienable rights, Paine argues that any form of government that does not protect these rights may be overthrown by the people.
