The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan

The Demon-Haunted World is a 1995 book by the astrophysicist, Carl Sagan. The book concerns philosophical issues of epistemology (how we know what we know), science, belief and empiricism. The book argues for the use of reason and skepticism to identify and overrule fallacious arguments and irrational beliefs. Sagan offers a "baloney detection kit," a set of guidelines for identifying falsity and bad arguments, including verification of facts and Occam's razor.
