The Blind Watchmaker

The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins

The Blind Watchmaker is a book by Richard Dawkins arguing for the theory of evolution and refuting the existence of God. Dawkins takes the theologist William Paley's Watchmaker Analogy: that, like a complex watch, a complex universe must have a creator. Dawkins argues that through the process of natural selection, complex organisms can evolve without a conscious creator. Dawkins defends his claims by carefully examining the evolution of the eye at its various stages of complexity and demonstrating through computer models how cumulative random mutations can cause adaptations to occur.
