The Producers Study Guide

The Producers

The Producers by Mel Brooks

The Producers is the story of theater producer Max Bialystock and timid accountant Leo Bloom, who team up with a scheme to make money by finding the worst play possible. The forceful Bialystock convinces Bloom to help him scam dozens of rich old ladies who invest in the new play. However, the play is an unexpected success, leaving Bialystock and Bloom in hot water. This film satirizes musicals and the world of theater, and also takes a few digs at Nazis.
