    Presumed Innocent is the first novel by Scott Turow, published in 1987. The novel follows the investigation of Carolyn Polhemus' murder. Polhemus, an attractive and successful prosecutor, is found dead in sexual bondange and Rusty Sabich, her coworker, is assigned to take her case. However, Carolyn is Rusty's former lover. The former affair is eventually discovered and, through a series of plot twists, Rusty is eventually charged with the murder.
