    No Longer at Ease is a novel by Chinua Achebe about Obi Okonwa. Obi manages to go to school in England, returning afterwards to colonial Nigeria to work for the Scholarship Board. He refuses bribes from many people until his outcast lover, Clara Okeke, leaves him after an abortion. His mother dies and he falls into debt, and so begins to take bribes. The last bribe he decides to take is part of a sting operation. Obi is arrested and is tried for corruption.
