In her memoir All But My Life, Gerda Weissmann Klein tells of her experiences as a Jewish teenager living in Poland during WWII. After enduring many hardships at the hand of the Nazi regime, Gerda is separated from her family and sent through a series of concentration camps over a period of three years. Gerda experiences cruelty and humiliation from her captors, including sexual advances and starvation, eventually losing her last friend Ilse before the camps are liberated in 1945.
My Life in France is an autobiography by American chef and TV personality Julia Child. It covers her time in France with her husband, Paul Child, and her experiences there as she learned the art of French cookery. It also deals with her emergence as a public figure in America on television, radio, and in print. The book contains some of Child's personal photography as a visual chronicle of life in France.
