Atticus finch

To start, Atticus Finch is one of the three main characters in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. He is a father of two children, Jem and Scout, the other two main characters. He is a man who loves Maycomb, the place where he came from. Atticus is a well-educated man and an open person who people can tell their problems.

Firstly, Atticus Finch loves Maycomb more than any place he knows. It is a small town in Alabama, USA in the Southside. He was born and bred in Maycomb. His family and relatives lives in Maycomb called the Finch's landing. When he went to Montgomery to study law, he still came back to Maycomb even though Montgomery is a bigger and more urbanized city. Usually, most people choose to stay in a bigger city rather than coming back to their own provinces which is mostly a rural area. "He knew his people, his people knew him, and because of Simon Finch's industry, Atticus was related by blood or marriage to nearly every family in the town." as said by his daughter Scout, the narrator in the book. Like when Jem talked to Atticus why the Cunninghams pay with farm products not with money. Atticus understands that the Cunninghams can only pay with what they have. He understands the status of the people living in his community. That is also a way of loving a place a person comes from.

Another example of what kind of person Atticus is he is a well-educated man. He knows how to read and write because he is the one who taught Scout how to read at a very young age. He always reads books in his spare time and Scout always crawls on his lap every night he is reading. He finished and graduated law in Montgomery. Now, he is a lawyer working in Maycomb County's municipality. Scout said that "he practiced economy more than anything". He knows how to handle and use his money wisely for his family so they would not go broke. He used his budgeting skills to invest the earnings that he has made for his brother's education. John Hale Finch his younger brother ten years younger than him.

Lastly, Atticus is a type of person where people can tell their problems. He is a lawyer; to help people with their problems is his job. He is honest in every answer he will say. Like when Jem asked him if they are poor. He said: "We are indeed." He also gives good advices for the people sharing their problems to him. Another example is when Scout had some going-to-school problems. He gave Scout some good advice and that seemed to lightened up Scout's mind because Scout believed in what he said and she already forgot about not going to school anymore.

Atticus really is a man of wisdom and good values. He is one of the most important characters in the novel and will play a big part in the story where a black man is accused for a case of rape. In this story, his wisdom and knowledge will be seen and tested.
