    In Sophocle's tragedy, Creon, the king of Thebes, has forbidden the burial of Polyneices, his nephew who fought against the city. Antigone, Polyneice's sister, goes against Creon's orders and buries her brother. When Creon discovers her crime, he sentences Antigone to death. Creon's son, Haemon, who loves Antigone, begs his father to change his mind but Creon won't budge, even after a prophet warns him that the gods are unhappy. Tragedy ensues when Antigone hangs herself, Haemon kills himself, and Eurydice, his mother, kills herself after hearing the news.

He kills a man (unknowingly his father) and marries the queen, his mother. In Oedipus at Colonus, Oedipus dies and his sons begin to fight. In Antigone, Oedipus' daughter, Antigone, is sentenced to death by Creon for burying her traitorous brother inside the city. Before Creon can rethink his decision, Antigone commits suicide.
