Mila 18 is the story of Christopher de Monti, an Italian-American newspaperman assigned to Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. de Monti commingles with both the ruling Nazis and the oppressed Polish Jews, becoming close with members of both groups before finally joining the resistance as the Nazi plans for the ghettos becomes clear. The story takes its title from an underground resistance bunker used as a safehouse by Jewish defenders.
