The Gift of the Magi is the story of Jim Dillingham and his wife Della, a young married couple who are deeply in love. Poor and desperate to buy one another gifts for Christmas, the two trade their only prized possessions, Della's beautiful hair and Jim's gold watch respectively, independently of one another in order to afford said gifts. The gifts they buy, however, are a set of fancy combs and a platinum watch fob. The two reflect on their expressions of self-sacrifice in love.
