The Devilís Arithmetic is a childrenís novel that tells the story of Hannah Stern, a young Jewish girl living in the 1980s. During a Passover Seder, Hannah, who has become bored of her Jewish heritage, is transported back in time to 1941 Poland. While living in the past Hannah is taken to a concentration camp and forced to endure all of the hardships she had heard about from her older relatives. Hannah does eventually make it back to the present day, but not before witnessing the horrors of WWII and learning the meaning of sacrifice.
