Maus is a graphic novel by Art Spiegelman about the experiences of his father Vladek, a Holocaust survivor. After marrying Art's mother, Anja, the family hid from the Nazis in the Sosnowiec Ghetto in occupied Poland. The family was eventually caught and sent to Auschwitz, where they were split up and suffered for years before finally being freed after the defeat of the Nazis. The book's narrative style is split between Vladek's recounting of his experiences and postwar conversations between Art and his father about the book.
