In her memoir All But My Life, Gerda Weissmann Klein tells of her experiences as a Jewish teenager living in Poland during WWII. After enduring many hardships at the hand of the Nazi regime, Gerda is separated from her family and sent through a series of concentration camps over a period of three years. Gerda experiences cruelty and humiliation from her captors, including sexual advances and starvation, eventually losing her last friend Ilse before the camps are liberated in 1945.
