When a cactus and a balloon fall in love would that be considered forbidden love? The fact that one is dangerous to the other is upsetting, but unavoidable. Love can be a danger, but it also saves. In New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, Isabella Swan is involved with a forbidden love; she must be saved and save.

Bella Swan is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice and Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and the rest of their vampire family. While opening a gift, she receives a paper cut. Edward's brother Jasper, one of the latest to attempt a nonhuman diet, is overwhelmed by the scent of blood and tries to attack Bella. In an attempt to keep her safe from the world of vampires, Edward tells Bella that he no longer loves her and leaves the town of Forks, Washington with his family. Bella becomes severely depressed and clings to the memory of Edward.

Bella soon discovers that the rush of adrenaline present when she places herself in dangerous situations stimulates hallucinations of Edward's voice. Bella begins seeking dangerous stunts and stumbles upon a couple of broken motorcycles that steers her to Jacob Black for help. Jacob and Bella spend a lot of time together while he fixes the bikes and become great friends. As they spend almost every day together Jacob starts to develop feelings for Bella, who constantly reminds him of their friendship. After going to the movies Jacob finds out that he is a werewolf and spends most of his time with the tribe pack. In the process he is ordered not to tell Bella, but because he doesnt want to ruin their friendship, he finds a way of getting Bella to figure it out. While visiting the reservation that Jacob lives on Bella decides to cliff dive and here the illusion of Edwards voice. Bella gets stuck in the current of the ocean and almost dies, but is saved be Jacob.

At the same time, Alice Cullen, Edward's vampire sister who sees the future, has a vision of Bella jumping off the cliff. Presuming Bella is dead, Alice rushes to Forks to check on Charlie Swan, Bella's father, while Edward calls Bella's home. Jacob answers and informs Edward that Charlie is at a funeral, referring to Harry Clearwaters who had passed away from a heart attack. Edward draws the conclusion that Jacob means Bella's funeral. Depressed, Edward flees to Italy to see the Volturi, the rule enforcing royalty of vampires who would be able to kill Edward, so he would not be existing in a world without his true love .

Alice seeing that Bella is alive explains what Edward was told and is doing. Bella and Alice rush to Italy to stop Edward, and save him before it is too late. Bella raced across Voltera and saved Edward before he was destroyed. While talking with Aro, Caius, and Marcus, head of the Volturi, they come to the conclusion that Bella, a human who knows of the existence of vampires, must either be killed or changed into a vampire herself. After they return to Forks, Edward explains to Bella that he only left in order to protect her, and inevitably, she forgives him. To Edwards dismay, but Bellas delight, the family voted that she become a vampire as soon as possible. With the Cullens back, Charlie keeps watch over Bella while she is grounded due to her three day disappearance. Although Edward is back in Bellas life, it is not a complete happy ending.

In conclusion Bella is saved by Jacobs warm friendship and saves Edward from an eternal darkness. Love hurts when it is taken away, but is worth the risk for the greatness of it. All in all, the Cullens come back to the little town of Forks, Edward and Bella are back together, and Jacobs friendship remains a question mark.
